Botox is a purified protein that temporarily weakens or paralyzes the muscles it’s injected into and, as a result, it can greatly reduce the signs of aging, including fine lines and wrinkles. While it doesn’t completely eradicate the signs of aging, it can greatly reduce the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines, smooth wrinkles and even prevent new ones from forming so that your skin can look smoother and younger!
Any person who is less than satisfied with the appearance of their forehead, eyes, and most especially the “angry” lines in between their eyebrows. If people are telling you that you look upset or tired when you really are feeling just fine, this may be a great indicator that it's time for Botox.
Botox injections feel like any other shot that you may have had – they hurt a little while being done but the pain ends when the shots do. Upon request, a topical anesthetic is applied to the area(s) before the procedure is done although most people find it unnecessary. If you are someone with the tendency to bruise, an ice roller will be applied to the area(s) immediately prior to the injection.
The effects of Botox take 5-10 days to take hold so if you’re wanting to look younger for a special event, be sure to have your injections ahead of time.
Botox has temporary results. This is good and bad, if you don’t like the result, just like bad bangs (lol), it will eventually wear off and you go right back to exactly the way you were before the injections. The downside of that is if you love it (and most do!) you need to repeat the same procedure every 3-6 months with an average of 4 months.
Linda’s wrinkles between her brows were getting so deep that she had trouble focusing on the cars behind her when she drove – every time she’d look in the rear view mirror, she’d become transfixed by her furrow!
Though she’d always prided herself on being a “natural” girl who’d “never get plastic surgery”, the wrinkles so bothered her that she made the call to Skin Savvy and came in for an evaluation.
We agreed that she’d benefit from 20 units in both the glabella and 15 units in her forehead. Linda went home and considered the treatment plan and called to book her Botox appointment the next morning.
“I’d lived in fear of becoming one of those frozen Hollywood faces that I’d always made fun of but, at the same time, I was beginning to look like a Sharpay! I really trusted Jennifer – she took the time to explain everything to me and didn’t try to hustle me into anything I wasn’t comfortable with. Plus, when she did the injections, she was so skilled that it was nowhere near as painful as I’d anticipated!
The best part is that I love, love, love how much better my face looks now. It’s amazing that a little liquid injection can make such a huge difference. And, that frozen face I was so concerned about? Nothing of the sort – those Hollywood types would be wise to come to Skin Savvy and have Jen do their injections – she’s a master! I am definitely a Botox convert!”
